AUTHOR VISIT ENRICHES BOOK STUDY
As part of their study of the book, “The Book Thief,” by Marcus Zusak, 8th grade students at Franklin Middle School met with Anneliese Heider Tisdale. The former German and French teacher once taught at Franklin. As a child during World War II she lived in Munich, Germany. In fact, she was about the same age as the main character in book the students were reading. Ms. Tisdale shared stories from her childhood, answered questions, and read excerpts from her own book about the experience, “When Christmas Trees Lit the Sky.”
