Christmas Trees Lit the Sky

US Bank has a program where they spotlight local businesses in their branch for a month. My first business spotlight for my published book “Christmas Trees Lit The Sky” was at the Council Street Branch in June of 2013. I was honored when they asked me back to be their Business Spotlight for August 2014.

Author Picture 9.13.2012Welcome to my new world as an “author.” My first book¬†Christmas Trees Lit the Sky – Growing up in World War II Germany¬†was published in November 2012. This has been a new world for me and now the challenge is to get the word out and to keep working on the sequel.

The entire experience has been overwhelming. It all started with a book review and author profile in the Cedar Rapids Gazette by Dave Rasdal. I have always been a fan of Dave’s “Ramblings” never thinking I would ever be the subject of one of his features. This brought about my first book reading/signing hosted by friend Cindi for our neighborhood and also one at New Bo Books across from the New Bo Market in Cedar Rapids. The signing at New Bo was a total success with standing room only in the back and people sitting on the floor in front. All this, after I had nightmares about me trying to read to an empty room! If I was nervous at the beginning I soon started to enjoy this as I saw former colleagues from my teaching days and friends I had not seen for some time. Most recently I participated in the Author Fair of the Marion Public Library where again I met old friends and made some new ones.

I plan to post future events and keep you up to date on what’s going on with my writing.

Till next time —
